About

THE BUTCHERY

The farm butchery is the heart of our business, and the basis for many aspects of the shop and cafe. All the livestock that the farm produces is utilised by the butchery, however demand has now outstripped what our small family farm can provide, particularly in relation to the beef, so we now also support other local farmers to meet this demand. Edward personally selects the animals on the hoof and then they are taken in small numbers to our local abattoir. The carcasses are then returned to the on site hanging facility and hung for a minimum of 21 days for beef and a minimum of 1 week for the lamb – all the carcasses are then broken down by our skilled team of master butchers and presented for sale in an ever increasing array of products and home produced specialities.

All of the meat used in the dishes freshly prepared for our Granary Cafe Restaurant are provided by the butchery department, including our delicious homemade burgers, sausages and our succulent steaks.

THE DELI

At the Deli counter you will be able to choose from a wide selection of home produced cooked meats all of which are cooked in cast iron stoves, which can be served sliced or in a sandwich to have for a quick, tasty lunch! We stock a wide range of homemade pies including our award winning pork pies, huntsman pies, steak pies, chicken pies, mince pies, quiches and our famous corned beef pie. We also have a good selection of salads, peas puddings, homemade stuffings.  We also have a hot takeaway sandwich facility and takeaway hot drinks for those 'on the go'

THE SHOP

In the shop we have a carefully selected cheese display which boasts the best of the region with some cheeses carefully selected from further afield. We stock a selection of milk and dairy items from our local dairy some 3 miles away . We offer bread from our own bakery both artisan and everyday breads. A wide range of sauces, condiments and preserves are also offered which are selected to compliment our meat products. We offer a good range of fruit and veg with a local choice where seasonality permits. Our home bakery produces a fantastic range of cakes, desserts, tarts and a chilled range of creams and chocolate treats. We also work closely with local breweries to bring you the best of the region, and a selection of the best wines from around the world. We also produce a range of handmade soaps made on the farm using tallow - which is a waste product from the butchery operation.
