Follow signs to Durham city centre. Access is via the main roundabout linking the A690 and New Elvet Bridge, taking the westbound A690 and following the slip road under Millburngate Bridge, or via Freeman's Place.

Walkergate is situated adjacent to the Library, Gala Theatre and Tourist Information Office just next to the Claypath park and ride stop, and 50 yards from Leazes Road interchange.
