Magna Carta is one of the most important documents in Britain’s legal history. First issued in 1215, it established the principle that everyone, including the King, is subject to the law and it guaranteed new individual rights.
This informative panel will discuss Magna Carta’s origins, its importance over time and its continuing contemporary relevance today. It provides an accessible introduction to a significant part of the UK’s legal history and its importance for the North East with time set aside for Q&A.
