Join the Being Human team for a creative walk in the Durham City Green Corridor. Throughout this walk with the Being Human team, we'll explore the natural and cultural heritage of Durham through creative methods like zines, photographs, and sound recording. As we walk from Crook Hall Gardens to Finchale Priory, and get to know the DCGC, we will write haikus, record soundscapes, and take photographs about what these spaces mean to us. We will have some refreshments after the walk.
The walk from Crook Hall Gardens to Finchale takes around 2 hours, we will return to Crook Hall Gardens by coach.
On Sunday 15 November, we’ll put together the pictures and poems from our walk into a collective zine at a “Green Zine Day” in Middlesborough Institute of Modern Art, we’d love for you to come for that too!
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 5-14 November 2026. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy. The walk from Crook Hall to Finchale takes around 2 hours, we will return to Crook Hall by coach. People with small children or limited mobility are welcome to join in the activities at Crook Hall, please message the organisers for more details.

Please bring your own camera or phone camera, wear sturdy shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather.
Other:
If the weather is bad, the activities will take place at Crook Hall with the possibility of going to Finchale and back by coach.
