About

Dating back to 1791, the iconic Seaham Hall — home to the award-winning Serenity Spa — sits just 30 minutes from the captivating Durham City. Set within 37 acres of sweeping countryside with views across the wild heritage coastline, this 5-star hotel carries a fascinating past. Like many great Georgian houses, it holds a rich history and an eccentric character that belies its beautifully contemporary interior.

Guests enjoy complimentary access to the tranquil Serenity Spa — the perfect environment to restore, unwind, and escape the pace of modern life. New for 2026, a reimagined outdoor zen garden offers a sanctuary designed for total restoration of body and mind. Two new infinity-edge pools, a cold plunge pool with cascading waterfall, luxury sun loungers, and warming fire pits create an outdoor retreat unlike any other. Inside, a 20-metre pool, steam room, sauna, hydrotherapy thermal experiences, and a team of expert therapists complete one of the North East's finest spa offerings.

Food & Beverage:

The Dining Room — From gilded 14-carat gold chandeliers to Georgian windows that frame the coastal sunset, The Dining Room is a warm and indulgent setting perched high above the North Sea.

Geko — Inspired by the Japanese word for moonlight, Geko reflects the tranquil beauty of County Durham's starlit skies. A calm, contemporary space with a wellness-led, small plate menu designed for mindful indulgence and shared moments.

Harvey's Bar — Steeped in Seaham Hall's spirited history and inspired by tales of poetry, passion, and a touch of rebellion, Harvey's Bar is a place to drink, dine, and linger a little longer.

Alongside these, a quintessentially classic Afternoon Tea and a Sunday Lunch worth the journey round out an exceptional food and beverage offering.

Seaham Hall's 23 suites range from Junior to Penthouse, each with its own individual character. Many feature private gardens or terraces, and all enjoy spectacular views across the grounds or coastline.

Beyond the hotel, the surrounding region offers rich heritage within easy reach — Hadrian's Wall, Holy Island, and Durham Cathedral all make for memorable excursions.
