S&DR200 Present: WOW North East Festival

The first ever Women of the world Festival in the north-east of England.

WOW - Women of the World is coming to the North East for the very first time this October with a line-up including a free festival day on 18 October featuring speakers including former Lioness Jill Scott, workshops from The Consent Collective and Urban Kaos, and a closing performance by the North East's very own magnetic singer songwriter Amelia Coburn.

Following in the footsteps of WOW Festivals that have taken place around the world from Rio to Karachi, there will be a special programme for local schools on Friday 17 October, followed by a day-long WOW Festival on Saturday 18 October. 

Free festival day passes for Saturday are available to book now to give you access to explore a packed line-up of events across Gala Durham and the nearby Clayport Library covering everything from politics to pop culture, sex to sport, activism to art. We'll travel back 200 years to spotlight women's roles in the birth of the railway and look ahead to the future of tech and innovation in a dynamic panel on women in STEM. Because when it comes to building what's next, locally and globally, women and girls are at the centre of the conversation.

Tickets are free, but booking is essential via Gala Durham here. All events in the main auditorium will be BSL Interpreted and Live Captioned. 

Other events taking place as part of the festival include An Evening with Ashley James at WOW and Keeping Sane(-ish) with Athena Kugblenu and Jordan Grey. Plus The WOW Show with Jude Kelly will tour the region from 11-14 October. Find out more and book tickets here.
