Developing Your Writing with Jerwood Fellows - Durham Book Festival

For early career writers, making the jump from debut publication to the next project can be complex and full of uncertainty. In this event, writers Kym Deyn, Katherine Horrex and J.A. Mensah will speak about their experiences as New Writing North’s Jerwood Fellows and how they have developed their practice during their fellowship. 

Kym Deyn is a poet, writer and editor of Newcastle-based micro-press The Braag. Their debut poetry collection Folkish is published by Nine Arches. 

Katherine Horrex is a poet and songwriter whose first collection Growlery, published by Carcanet, was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney First Collection Prize. Her poems have featured in the Guardian, The Times Literary Supplement and The Forward Prizes Anthology 2021. 

J.A. Mensah is a novelist, short story writer and playwright and Creative Writing teacher at University of York. Her debut novel, Castles from Cobwebs, won the NorthBound Book Award.
