As we take the first steps in this shared journey, we invite you to come and see the new Cuthbert Centre for Pilgrimage and Prayer and hear about opportunities to get involved. The Cuthbert Centre for Pilgrimage and Prayer is Durham Cathedral’s newest addition, centred on the Chapel of the Holy Cross and opening up beautiful spaces of the Deanery never before used for public ministry.

The Centre will offer hospitality to individuals and groups arriving in Durham as pilgrims. As a key feature of the Cathedral’s Vision 2033, it will also celebrate the gifts of pilgrimage and prayer through varied activity to inspire, resource and equip others across the region.

We invite you to come and see the new spaces and hear about how to get involved in 2027 – including through pilgrimages, retreat days and volunteering opportunities. The Open Day will function on an hourly rotation on the hour, with a 15-minute talk given by Revd James Shelton, Director of the Cuthbert Centre for Pilgrimage and Prayer, followed by the opportunity to ask questions and tour the new facilities.
