Banter is a dynamic English folk and ceilidh quartet known as the "world's smallest big band", featuring Simon Care, Nina Zella, Tim Walker, and Mark Jolley. Prepare for a joyous night of dancing!

Banter are four fine musicians rooted firmly in traditional English music, but who enjoy testing the limits: Simon Care on melodeon & concertina, Nina Zella on keyboards & vocals, Tim Walker on drums, percussion, brass, guitar, bass & vocals and Mark Jolley on bass, fiddle, guitar & vocals. Formed in 2015, they realised that a common love for the living traditions of English song and dance music was at their core and began to pursue its evolution, bringing in flavours from a wide range of genres and styles.

Renowned for their originality, Banter is in high demand at festivals in the UK and overseas. Their innovative approach has earned them a reputation as trailblazers in English traditional music. Apart from being incredible musicians, they bring a totally fresh approach to their repertoire with highly original re-workings of well-known songs and dance tunes.

Although just four people, they create a huge sound and have been described as ‘the world’s smallest big band’.
