About

Adventure Access is an outdoor activities company that delivers watersports at two sites in County Durham. We are a community interest company that prides itself on making paddle sports accessible to everyone.

Our coastal site is located at Seaham Harbour Marina where we deliver a variety of activities. If you're looking to give paddle boarding or kayaking a go our taster sessions are perfect and only £20 per person. One of our most popular sessions is our Sunrise Paddle and Breakfast, watch the sun come up over the horizon while on the water then head back to our centre for a hot shower and continental breakfast in our new cosy snug.

Our second site is located on the River Wear in the centre of Durham City. Here we provide stand up paddle boarding, open canoeing and dragon boating. Our Family Stand up Paddleboarding Trips are a great way to see the city from a new angle. We also partner with 1860 Bar and Kitchen to bring our new Paddle and Brunch sessions, take a trip down the river then head to the cafe for a lovely hot breakfast. One of our most exciting activities is Dragon Boating, this brings a competitive side to paddling and is fantastic for school or youth groups, hen/stag do’s, birthday parties and corporate groups.

All our activities are bookable for private groups too, we can cater for; birthday parties, school groups, scouts and guides, adult only, youth groups, charities, hen/stag do’s, SEN groups and corporate groups. Whatever kind of group you are, we can provide personalized activities catered to your needs.

Our group sizes vary depending on the activity and location:

  • Stand up paddleboarding and Kayaking in Seaham: 8-16 Participants (ages 8+, 6 and 7 years can join but must be on a double kayak or sup with an adult)

  • Stand up Paddle boarding in Durham: up to 8 Participants (ages 8+)

  • Canoeing in Durham: up to 22 participants (ages 6+, can be younger then 6 as long as they fit in our buoyancy aids and are sat with an adult)

  • Dragon Boating in Durham: 1 boat- 13-20 participants, 2 boats- 26-40 participants, whole day tournament- 40-80 participants (ages 10+)

At both our venues there are fantastic options for food, you can book a BBQ in Durham or pizzas in Seaham, it's a great way to finish off a birthday party or team building session. Send us an email for more information on after session food options.

Both of our venues have hot showers and changing rooms to use as well as secure facilities for all your belongings.

We also specialize in working with groups and individuals with additional needs, the company was founded on the principle that adventure activities should be accessible to all.

Adventure Access is a Paddle UK Delivery Partner, we deliver paddlesports qualifications and training to a high standard, from the paddle start award all the way to the paddlesport instructor course.
