About

Relax, unwind, and allow yourself to be enveloped in nature at The Nest, an extraordinary retreat carefully hidden on the rustic banks of the historic Hurworth Burn Reservoir.

Waterside Lodges - Kingfisher and Sandpiper
Nestled on the edges of the picturesque Hurworth Burn Reservoir, with privacy in abundance, Kingfisher and Sandpiper waterside lodges combine the luxury of a large open plan living space with the intimacy of a deluxe king-size bedroom, private balcony, and hot tub.

Designed with careful attention to detail, the lodges are as beautiful inside as the open countryside on its doorstep. Guests may well spot a Common Sandpiper among the dozens of bird species known to inhabit the area.

Out and About
If after relaxing and enjoying the view you fancy a little explore we are just 20 minutes from Durham.  Bill Bryson called it ‘a perfect little city’, The Independent named it as one of the best cities in the world to visit in 2020, and Condé Nast’s Traveller magazine readers voted it the ‘Best city in the UK’

Explore the timeless quality of Durham, a quintessential old English University City, take some time out with a relaxing riverside walk or river cruise, or soak up the atmosphere with superb cafés, artisan workshops, boutiques, galleries and museums.

Or if you fancy somewhere a little closer to home, just a short drive away is the pretty market town of Sedgefield with an fine array of pubs/restaurants, coffee shops, and interesting boutiques.

Alternatively with direct access from your doorstep you can enjoy the Castle Eden Walkway, which runs alongside the reservoir, and the abundance of wildlife it has to offer. Enjoy a cycle or walk along this disused railway line which runs along the National Cycle Network Route 1, to either Castle Eden or Wynyard Woodland Park.

There is so much to see and do in County Durham with great transport links to access all the famous landmarks and landscapes, with plenty of hidden gems to be discovered!
