About

The home of Angus and Louise Johnson, The Riding Farm House is a traditional stone farmhouse dating back to 1855.

An ideal base for visitors, whether on business or pleasure, surrounded by beautiful countryside with a network of footpaths and cycle ways but only 10 minutes from the A1(M). Beamish Museum The Angel of the North Riverside home of Durham Cricket are all on the door step, Durham City Newcastle Gateshead and Sunderland are all within 20 minutes. Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, The Sage, Durham Cathedral and Gateshead MetroCentre are all within 20 minutes drive away. Further afield, Hadrian's Wall, Durham Dales, Alnwick Garden, Northumberland's castles and coastline are perfect for a day out.

If you want a day at the Riding the farm has a net work of footpaths and cycleways bursting with wildlife and sculpture for you to explore or just enjoy the peace and quite.

We have 3 rooms, all en suite. All rooms are spacious with luxurious fittings, colour TV/DVD, radio/CD tea and coffee facilities and a fridge with fresh milk and bottled water you can enjoy a relax in the guest lounge with an open fire. Breakfast is a delight, and will set you up for your day ahead with a full range of breakfast cereals, fruits yogurts as well as a traditional English cooked breakfast we do cater for vegetarians.

The Riding Farm has ample secure private parking.

    From the A1(M) take the Team Valley Trading Estate south exit, at the roundabout follow the sign for Lamesley, 0.5 miles turn right at the mini roundabout, 200 yds turn left for Kibblesworth, immediately after passing the Ravensworth Arms Hotel turn right. 1 Mile you will enter Kibblesworth Village. Continue through the village, up the hill then 2nd left, signed 'No through road' and Riding Lane, pass Cooper House on the left, continue to Riding Farm.

    Public Transport Directions

    From Durham Bus Station, stand A, take the EX1 Arriva bus to Birtley (runs every 5 and 35 minutes past the hour). A 10 minute taxi drive from Birtley.
