Durham Restaurant Week is set to return at the end of January, serving up a tempting menu of cut-price deals to help diners banish the winter blues and give city centre businesses a welcome post-Christmas boost.
Running from January 30 to February 6, the popular event will see restaurants across the city offer specially curated menus at reduced prices, giving visitors the chance to sample Durham’s wide-ranging food scene without breaking the bank.
From comforting Italian classics to sizzling BBQ dishes and high-end tasting menus, there is something to suit every appetite.
The week-long celebration of food is organised by Durham BID, which says the initiative has become a key fixture in the city’s hospitality calendar.
Among the venues taking part this year are BBQ favourite Notch, Italian Wine Bar and Kitchen, Veeno and tasting-menu destinations Coarse, FIIK and Faru. Rio Brazilian Steakhouse - which recently relocated from Walkergate to The Riverwalk, in the former Establuo site, to allow it to expand its covers - will also be offering its famous Brazilian churrasco experience.
Award-winning restaurant, Spice Lounge - which was crowned Best Restaurant in Durham at the Tommy Miah International Indian Chef of the Year Competition and Awards - is also taking part.
As well as encouraging residents and visitors to eat out, the initiative is designed to help restaurants attract new customers who may not have visited before.
Durham BID says the week will shine a spotlight on the diversity of Durham’s dining scene, from great-value meals to more indulgent gourmet experiences, through exclusive menus, special offers and fixed-price dining.
