Immerse yourself in an extra-special enchanting evening at Beamish. Enjoy twinkling lights, festive entertainment, and seasonal treats under the night sky.

Add an extra festive experience to your evening visit and meet Father Christmas in his festive Grotto at Rowley Station Goods Yard (extra charge applies, see below for more details). Please note, this is a special festive evening event, and Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for evening events.

Start your Christmas Evening early and join us for a film in our 1950s Grand cinema beforehand! Exclusively available to Christmas Evening event ticket holders, arrive early and kick start your special evening with a film from 3pm, before starting your Christmas Evening from 5pm. Event Cinema tickets must be accompanied by Christmas Evening entry tickets for the same evening, must be pre-booked online (subject to availability) and will not be available to buy at the museum. Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for evening events.

Enjoy merry music, delightful decorations and delicious festive treats as you make Christmas memories with your loved ones. Discover the delights of the Edwardian town street, explore traditionally decorated homes and shops, be entertained by musicians playing festive tunes, enjoy Christmas crafts, take a whimsical wander through Elf Wood, and don’t forget to browse The 1900s Town stalls, 1950s toy shop and museum gift shop for those perfect presents.

Tickets for Christmas Evening entry and Father Christmas’ Grotto must be pre-booked online (subject to availability) and will not be available to buy at the museum. Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for evening events.

If you need a carer’s ticket, please book the rest of your party online and then call 0191 370 4306 and quote your reference number to book a carer’s ticket. Evidence of eligibility for carers status must be shown at the point of admission, examples of evidence include Blue Badge, Access Card, PIP letter, Government issued Disability card or equivalent.

 

Father Christmas’ Evening Grotto

4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th & 19th December 2025, 5-9.30pm

Additional Grotto cost: £10 (0-16 years).

Tickets on sale Wednesday, 10th September 10am.

Meet Father Christmas in his cosy Grotto at Rowley Station Goods Yard. £8 per child (0-16 years), includes a small, traditional gift. Grotto tickets must be pre-booked prior to your visit (subject to availability). Grotto tickets will not be available to buy at the museum.

Under 2s do not require a ticket to enter the museum but will require a Grotto ticket if they wish to visit Father Christmas. Subject to availability.

This is a separate ticketed evening event – Beamish Unlimited Passes and Friends of Beamish memberships are not valid for evening events.
