About

Discover an unforgettable day of live shows, immersive experiences and epic storytelling at Kynren – The Storied Lands, opening on 18 July 2026 in Bishop Auckland.

Created by the team behind the award-winning Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, this spectacular new attraction invites visitors to journey through history, myth and legend across a series of large-scale live shows and immersive environments set against the backdrop of Auckland Palace and the surrounding County Durham countryside.

Designed as the UK’s first live-action show park, Kynren – The Storied Lands offers a completely different kind of family day out. Visitors move between breathtaking arenas and immersive worlds where stories unfold around them throughout the day.

At the heart of the attraction is The Lost Feather, a visually stunning bird spectacle staged within a dramatic nest-inspired arena. More than 250 birds soar freely above audiences in a powerful celebration of flight, storytelling and conservation.

Visitors can also step into Land of the Vikings, a detailed Viking settlement alive with activity. Sparks fly from the blacksmith’s forge, fires burn and warriors prepare for battle before audiences take their seats for an action-packed live show filled with clashing shields, dramatic stunts and high-energy storytelling.

North East folklore comes to life in Legend of the Wear, inspired by the legendary Lambton Worm tale. A giant lake becomes the stage for thrilling live water stunts as mysterious forces move beneath the surface and chaos erupts in one of the attraction’s most visually spectacular experiences.
Medieval adventure takes centre stage in The Trusty Steed, where audiences can experience world-class horsemanship, daring horseback stunts, sword fighting and knights charging into combat. At the heart of the story is a fearless young female warrior determined to prove her courage and skill.

Families can also wander through Victorian Imaginariums, an outdoor storytelling maze filled with theatrical encounters, playful surprises and larger-than-life Victorian characters inspired by the imagination and wonder of the Victorian age.

Visitors can extend their experience on selected dates with Kynren – An Epic Tale of England, the spectacular outdoor night show which takes audiences on a 90-minute journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend on a vast 7.5-acre stage.

The 2026 season runs from 18 July to 12 September. Kynren – The Storied Lands operates during the day from Tuesday to Sunday, while the night show takes place on Saturday evenings, plus selected Friday nights in August and September.

Advance Saver tickets for Kynren – The Storied Lands daytime attraction start from £30 for adults and £20 for children.

Fabulous show. Well worth the price. Sadly the seating was inadequate, long queues for concessions. Disappointing village to be fair. Was looking for a wander through. Not herded like sheep. Read full review
