**Temporarily closed followed new government COVID19 guidance**
The Art Block is the only dedicated art gallery in East Durham.
The building had something of an inauspicious, but useful start as a toilet block which became surplus to requirements when Byron Place opened. Art Block opened in 2012 when East Durham Artists’ Network took over the building, and volunteers worked hard to convert it into an art space.
Free exhibitions, on a range of subjects agreed by edan members, and utilising their varied skills, are held there throughout the year. Entrance is free and the gallery is normally open to visitors from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive, from 11.00 – 3.00 weekdays and 10.00 – 4.00 Saturdays. Visitors are advised to check the Facebook Page east-durham-artists'-network for latest opening times and exhibition information.
The Art Block is also used for groups, workshops and other art-related activities.
Members can book the Art Block for their own exhibitions.
