For those who wish to explore the North of England, we are in a central location to reach many famous attractions including Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site, Beamish Museum, Auckland Castle, Raby Castle, The Bowes Museum, Durham County Cricket Ground, Metrocentre, Universities, walking in Weardale, the Northumberland Coast and the Lake District. Low Barns Nature Reserve, considered one of Durham Wildlife Trust’s premier reserves, is a short distance away. Weardale is at the heart of the Durham Dales. It is the perfect location for getting outdoors and going walking or cycling and there are many exhibitions, festivals and events throughout the year, including the spectacular Kynren. You can also find an excellent selection of country pubs and quality restaurants in the area.

Upon leaving the A1(M) AT J60, drive on the A689 towards Bishop Auckland, going straight over two roundabouts at Rushyford. After half a mile on your right you will see a sign for Windlestone Nurseries. Turn right here onto Windlestone Lane, past the garden centre, and after 3/4 mile you will reach Merrington Grange on your right hand side.
