About
Looking for a fun, active activity for your child to try this half-term? North Durham Cricket Academy (NDCA) is inviting children aged 5-11 to attend a FREE cricket trial session. Designed specifically for beginners, these sessions are a great opportunity for children to have a go at softball cricket in a welcoming, pressure-free environment.
No previous cricket experience is required. Our sessions focus on enjoyment, confidence and participation, helping children develop new skills through fun games and engaging activities. Whether your child has never picked up a bat before or is simply looking to try something new, they will be supported every step of the way.
At NDCA, our philosophy is simple: Play. Learn. Belong.
We believe every child should have the opportunity to enjoy sport, make friends and build confidence, regardless of experience or ability. Sessions are delivered using a child-centred approach that prioritises enjoyment, inclusion and personal development over competition and performance.
During the trial session, children will take part in a range of age-appropriate activities including:
Fun batting and bowling games
Team challenges and skill stations
Catching and throwing activities
Small-sided softball cricket games
Opportunities to make new friends and build confidence
Parents are welcome to stay and watch or ask questions about upcoming programmes and opportunities.
North Durham Cricket Academy is a Community Interest Company (CIC) committed to making cricket accessible to all families across North Durham. We operate on a flexible contribution model and are working to ensure that no child misses out on participation because of financial circumstances.
All equipment is provided, and children should simply wear comfortable sports clothing and suitable footwear.
Places are limited and advance booking is recommended.
Come along, give cricket a try, and discover why more local families are choosing NDCA as a fun, inclusive introduction to the game.
