About

Whether you're a local or just visiting why not take time to enjoy the wholesome cooking, good beer and very good selection of wines at The Saxon Inn, which is set in the wonderful village of Escomb off the A689 close to the market town of Bishop Auckland.

Paul Hope takes justifiable pride in the quality of the food and in the new dinning extension, with well priced menus that cater for all tastes. The steak pie is a favourite and the other options include snacks, steaks, curries, lasagne and much more. The Inn which dates from 1671 is at the social as well as the astronomical heart of the community.

A pleasant beer garden is to the front of the pub offering views of the Escomb Saxon church.
