Get a real taste of Durham.
The county is home to an array of award-winning local producers, creating delicious delicacies that you can experience on a visit to Durham.
In the North Pennines hill farming is still very much a part of rural life, where you will find hardy Swaledale and Teeswater sheep, sold as Upper Teesdale Lamb. Herds of cattle are found on lower ground, including traditional breed Shorthorn, whose marbling adds great flavour to the meat.
Teesdale in the Durham Dales has some of the best red grouse shooting in the county amidst the managed heather moorland. Whilst game and venison from the lower Raby Estate can be found in local eateries.
The River Wear is rated as one of the best fishing waters in England where wild salmon, sea and brown trout can be found. The stunning reservoirs of Grassholme, Balder, Hury, Selset and Cow Green are well-stocked with rainbow and wild brown trout.
Farmers markets across the county give you the opportunity to meet local producers, whilst agricultural shows including Wolsingham, England's oldest show, give you a taste of rural life.

Inspired by traditional British and Belgian beers we always endeavour to produce enjoyable, easy going beers. Sometimes we stray from the path and experiment but this helps feed our knowledge and curiosity. The styles, ingredients and methods we use are born from a combination of our urban upbringings, rural family life, our travels and our North-East roots. All the experiences, cultures and flavours have come together to influence our beers. With a love of both the Arts and Sciences and an appreciation of traditional and modern beer styles we aim to give our drinkers beers from across the spectrum.
