About

Ideally situated in the picturesque village of Wolsingham, gateway to the Durham Dales, Corner Cottage is perfect for couples looking for a peaceful and relaxing break in County Durham and further afield.

Things to See and Do

On the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Wolsingham is at the heart of County Durham.

The county is packed with history and heritage - find out what life was like in North East England at Beamish Museum, learn about the beginnings of the Railways at Locomotion, the National Railway Museum at Shildon, and experience the county's lead mining industry at Killhope high up in the Durham Dales. The magnificent Durham Cathedral and Castle World Heritage Site is a must see on any visit to County Durham. The Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle, houses fantastic fine and decorative art collections. Corner Cottage is ideally located for visiting fantastic events like Kynren (June-Sept)....and don't forget the return of Lumiere, the UK's largest light festival, to Durham this November.

If you are looking for outdoor adventure, you’ll find breathtaking views on walking and cycling routes right on the doorstep in the Durham Dales and North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a picture-perfect landscape of moors, hills, valleys and rivers – and home to High Force, one of England’s most impressive waterfalls.

Wolsingham is now a fully accredited member of the Walkers are Welcome scheme. Find out more information at www.walkersarewelcome.org.uk

Corner Cottage's location makes it a great base for visiting an variety of amazing places further afield including Durham's Heritage Coast, Hadrian's Wall, Northumberland National Park, the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District, the east coast and York.

Our first visit here and thoroughly enjoyed it! Jean and Ramsay very welcoming and great hosts. Reccommend Beamish Museum for a visit and the butcher in the village for excellent meat. Very relaxing holiday.
