This makes 2 Garth House a great base for exploring all that the area has to offer.
You are greeted by the charming sitting room, where a woodburning stove takes centre stage, adding warmth to the room as you gather round the television and enjoy a peaceful evening.
To complete the ground-floor there is a kitchen/diner, where you can rustle up your favourite meals to enjoy around the dining table with your loved ones, as you toast to a wonderful holiday, with the addition of a handy dishwasher!
Upstairs there is a double bedroom with a TV and ample storage space to allow you to unpack your belongings, a twin bedroom which makes for flexible sleeping arrangements between friends and families, and a bathroom with both bath and shower so you can freshen up for the day ahead however you wish.
Outside there is on-street parking and an enclosed garden to the rear with lawn and a gravelled area with furniture to enjoy a spot of alfresco dining or a glass of wine under the stars, whilst looking out into the beautiful country views of Teesdale.
Mickleton itself is a small village with a children's playground, a petrol station where you can pick up a pint or two of milk and extra bags of logs if needed, the historical Beckstones Wath Footbridge, two pubs, one of which currently delivers ready to cook gourmet suppers, and the 18th century Tees Valley Railway walking path.
Within a short drive is the popular market town of Barnard Castle where you can see the picturesque castle, the 16th century bridge, a selection of art galleries, The Bowes Museum and a number of pubs and eateries to enjoy on an evening out.
For a taste of the North Pennines National Landscape, you can visit the magnificent waterfalls at High Force and Low Force, or climb to the top of Cross Fell, whilst the opposite direction brings you to the excellent cycling facilities in both the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Hamsterley Forest.
Further afield, you can explore the pretty market towns of Richmond or Darlington, or spend a day in the bustling cathedral city of Durham; all of which have museums, quaint gardens, interesting castles and ample shops to enjoy, whilst picking up some holiday gifts.
