Enjoy a festive day out amongst trains, engines and carriages. Highlights include a Christmas Market, Father Christmas in his cosy carriage grotto and free family activities.

Meet Father Christmas:
Join Father Christmas and his cheerful elf nestled inside our cosy carriage in Main Hall. They are excited to meet and greet children and listen to their Christmas wishes on selected days in December. We are also offering relaxed visits with Father Christmas for young visitors with additional needs, find out more on our dedicated page.

Free family activities:
As a sprinkle of Christmas magic fills our museum, come and enjoy our free family activities throughout the holiday season. Why not write a letter to Father Christmas, explore winter science activities or design your own calendar for the year ahead.  

Christmas Market :
Join us from 28 – 29 November to shop unique, handmade creations and join in with workshops and demonstrations. Created in association with Weardale Makers Market.
