About

Raby Castle, Park and Gardens is encouraging families to journey down the rabbit hole this summer with an Alice in Wonderland inspired takeover of the castle grounds.

From Saturday 19th July, a new and immersive experience awaits in The Riding School, setting everyone’s senses and imaginations alight as this much-loved story is brought to life. Featuring illuminated tunnels, kaleidoscope projections, a magical garden complete with stunning LED trees, oversized mushrooms and giant dandelions, as well as the iconic Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, families can embark on a journey of wonder and mystery through Wonderland.

Visitors can also become as mad as a hatter with a new trail in The Plotters’ Forest, Raby’s woodland adventure playground woven amongst a Christmas tree plantation, where young explorers will step into Alice’s shoes to follow the white rabbit down the rabbit hole, collect the clues and solve the riddles.

Designed to offer families even more to see and do during their time here, Raby will also be hosting an Alice in Wonderland inspired trail featuring curious creatures in the castle followed by a Mad Hatter’s Summer Tea Party in the Walled Gardens’ grass amphitheatre.

Raby Castle, Park and Gardens has launched a new Family Explorer ticket for the summer, giving visitors adventurous fun and great value for money during a day out at the historic Estate. This ticket offers access to everything across the attraction, providing a full day of family fun.

Entry to the Alice in Wonderland inspired experience in the Riding School will be included, as well as entry to one of the country’s finest medieval castles, two hours of fun in The Plotters’ Forest woodland adventure playground, complimentary guided tours to engage all interests, and access to the beautiful five-acre Walled Gardens and the ancient deer park where red and fallow deer can be spotted roaming freely.

The family explorer ticket is £75 when purchased online for two adults and two children and saves families £16 if they were to purchase the above separately.

The Family Explorer ticket also includes complimentary guided tours of the castle and the beautifully designed Walled Gardens daily throughout the summer holidays, offering visitors both indoor and outdoor activities so there’s something to enjoy come rain or shine.

The new family explorer ticket includes free parking, and includes access to a range of eateries as well as a beautiful retail area full of fabulous treats. Those looking for a sweet treat can enjoy a cream tea or a delicious lunch in The Vinery Café, or head to The Garage Café and pick up an ice cream.

Families this summer can plan their visit to coincide with the destination’s jam-packed events schedule. In the lineup are outdoor cinema screenings, open air theatre and returning due to popular demand, the Harvest Seasonal Market on the August Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday 23rd – Monday 25th August) which showcases the best local produce and makers.

For an extra outdoor experience further off the beaten track, High Force Waterfall is a 30-minute drive from Raby Castle and offers an awe-inspiring view of nature’s power. Woodland walks and engaging trails for youngsters make the natural attraction an entertaining experience in the great outdoors for all ages and interests.

Tickets to the Alice in Wonderland themed experience in The Riding School can be purchased separately for £5 per person.

The Family Explorer ticket is £75 for two adults and two children (aged 4-15) when booked online in advance, and £79 when purchased on the day onsite. Under fours only need a Riding school admission ticket at £2.50.

Tickets to High Force Waterfall can also be purchased on site or online. Admission is £3.95 for adults, £2.45 for children (aged 4-15) and under fours are free. A family ticket is also available for £12.80.
