About
Next stop - Hopetown Darlington
Whether you're stopping off for a quick cup of tea or spending the whole day at Hopetown Darlington - we can help you plan a bespoke visit that will give your group plenty to talk about once they're back on the road.
Groups will receive a warm, personalised welcome in the historic Grade II* listed Goods Shed, the oldest surviving early railway Goods Shed in the UK, before beginning their booked group tour or their self-guided visit around the railway-heritage attraction.
Groups can benefit from exclusive tours with our Director or Curator to discover the stories of the local railway not told in our interpretation. You'll be amazed at our 30,000 item railway heritage collection which is on permanent display. Make sure to cross the bridge over to Darlington Locomotive Works and gaze and the UK's newest steam locomotive under construction.
You can travel to Hopetown Darlington by rail! We share a site with North Road Station on the Tees Valley railway line which has direct connections to stations between Bishop Auckland and Saltburn. If your group is travelling from further afield, simply switch trains at Darlington Station.
Coach drivers will receive a voucher to exchange for free refreshments in Clocktower Café.
