About

Babul’s Darlington: Flavour, Family & a Very Warm Welcome
If you’re visiting Darlington and in the mood for something bold, vibrant and full of
heart Babul’s is the place to be. With its award-winning South Asian cuisine, buzzing
atmosphere and warm, family-run charm, Babul’s offers an unforgettable dining experience
right in the heart of the town.
What started over 25 years ago in nearby Barnard Castle has grown into a regional
favourite, known for its unique take on Indian and Bangladeshi-inspired street food, creative
cocktails, and generous hospitality. The Darlington restaurant brings all of that energy into a
stylish, modern space that’s perfect for everything from casual dinners to celebratory nights
out.
The menu is a love letter to South Asia packed with flavour, colour and variety. Expect
comforting curries, sizzling grilled meats, fresh seafood, and inventive vegan and vegetarian
dishes. There’s a real focus on balancing traditional techniques with modern flair, and the
chefs aren’t afraid to get creative.
If you're visiting during the day, don’t miss our brunch menu, which puts a South Asian spin
on classic favourites. And for something a little livelier, our bottomless brunch is a local
favourite perfect for visitors looking to soak up the good vibes with friends or family, no
matter the day of the week.
Thirsty? You’re in the right place. Our cocktail game is strong whether you’re after
something fresh and fruity or smoky with a kick, our bar team knows how to shake things up.
Babul’s is proud to play an active role in Darlington’s vibrant cultural and community scene.
We’re passionate about working with local organisations that bring people
together including our friends at Hopetown Darlington, Darlington Women’s Football Club,
and the iconic Darlington Hippodrome. If you're catching a show at the Hippodrome, keep
hold of your ticket, we offer 10% off your bill when you dine with us on the same day. It's
our way of bringing a little extra flavour to your night out.
Whether it’s supporting grassroots sport or celebrating Darlington’s rich heritage and
creativity, we believe great food goes hand in hand with great community.
But Babul’s is about more than just what’s on the plate (or in the glass). It’s about the
experience. The atmosphere is welcoming, upbeat and full of personality, think exposed
brick, vibrant colours, and music that sets the tone without stealing the show. The staff are
friendly, knowledgeable, and always up for a chat about what’s good on the menu that day.
And at the heart of it all is the story. Babul’s was founded in honour of Rafique Uddin Babul,
one of the early pioneers of South Asian cuisine in the UK. His sons carry that legacy
forward with pride making sure every guest feels like part of the family, whether it’s their
first visit or their fiftieth.

So whether you’re exploring the sights of County Durham or just passing through Darlington,
be sure to stop by Babul’s. Come hungry. Leave happy.
