Add Steampunk Weekend to your Itinerary

A group of people wearing steam-punk style victorian clothing on a station platform.

About

Goggles at the ready! Steampunk Weekend returns bringing two days of fantastical invention, live entertainment, eccentric characters, unique traders and Victorian-inspired adventure. Step into an extraordinary world where steam powers the future, curious contraptions are commonplace, and where creativity knows no limits across a weekend packed with entertainment, colour and unforgettable experiences celebrating invention, imagination, heritage and creativity.

Explore a bustling marketplace of steampunk traders and makers, discover intriguing characters, take part in games and competitions, and capture plenty of photo-worthy moments along the way. There's live music, interactive activities and surprises around every corner as Hopetown is transformed into a fantastical retro-futuristic playground.

Here's what to expect:
Featured Performances by Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer
Experience the UK's original "Chap Hop" artist as he blends witty wordplay, comedy and music in a uniquely steampunk style.
Sunday only, 11.30am and 1pm

Steampunk Comedic Poetry with Paul Eccentric
Prepare for eccentric entertainment from Paul Eccentric of The Antipoets, bringing his trademark humour and offbeat poetry to the weekend.
Saturday only (timings tbc)

Live Music from The Ran Tanners
Enjoy lively musical performances throughout the weekend from crowd favourites and local legends The Ran Tanners.
Both days throughout the day

Steampunk Crafting with Claire Baker
Join artist Claire Baker for Steampunk-inspired crafting. Drop in throughout the day.
Sunday only throughout the day

Plus Throughout the Weekend:
Steampunk stalls and traders
Tea duelling demonstrations and participation
Games, competitions and prizes
Fantastic photo opportunities

We're still putting the finishing touches to the programme, with even more exciting attractions and experiences set to be revealed soon. Dress to impress in your finest Victorian-esque attire and head of town to the finest joint in Darlington.

Tickets are available to book now and, just like last year, admission is completely free of charge.

Important Information:
Your event ticket includes admission to Hopetown Darlington, so there is no need to book a separate site admission ticket.
As this is one of our busiest event weekends, we strongly recommend booking tickets for the intriguing time travel contraption ride Experiment!. Advance booking guarantees your place and helps avoid disappointment on the day.

Finally, note the event states a 5pm finish. This is incorrect due a glitch in the mechanical system. Carriages at 4pm sharp. Thank you.
