About

Beamish is a living, working museum, set in 350 acres of beautiful Durham countryside. Costumed folk bring to life 1820s Pockerley Old Hall and Landscape, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm. Visitors to the open air museum discover fascinating stories of everyday life in the North East through time.

Be immersed in this multi-award winning museum as you try delicious, freshly-made bread in the Edwardian Bakery, hop aboard a tram, have your hair done in a 1950s style and discover what life was like on the Home Front during the Second World War. Say hello to the pit ponies in their stables, admire unforgettable Georgian views and have your portrait taken in the Edwardian photographers' studio.

Set in 350 acres of gorgeous Durham countryside, there's something for everyone at Beamish Museum. Costumed folk are ready to share their stories, there's so much to discover.

The museum's year-long events programme ensures there's always something new to see and do, and the Beamish Unlimited Pass means you can come back free time and time again for a year, making memories at no extra cost!
