Travel Directions

Type: Restaurant

With views over the beautiful Beamish Valley and tranquil surroundings, South Causey Inn is the rural gateway to traditional North Eastern hospitality.

Our stone-built and newly-refurbished inn, adjacent to South Causey Equestrian Centre, serves food all day in The Bar and Snug. We source food locally wherever possible and place a great deal of importance on the quality and provenance of our ingredients. Our specialities include trout pate, using fresh trout from our very own Beamish Lakes, and fillet steak.

The Bar is warm and cosy with low beams, oak floors, period wooden furniture and open fires, the perfect place to catch up with friends and re-charge your batteries. We serve real ales, a fine selection of lagers, beers and bottles and fresh coffee.

In The Snug you can enjoy a glass by the fire in our sumptuous leather Chesterfield furniture, playing cards, dominoes or chess and our waitress will bring your breakfast, lunch or dinner direct to your table.

Located in over 100 acres of grounds, we overlook Beamish and are just a short drive away from the Gateshead MetroCentre, Newcastle and the World Heritage Site of Durham City.
