Visit the Durham Dales this weekend and be amazed by Waterfall - Teesdale's spectacular light installation. And why not make a weekend of it and explore more of this beautiful part of England.

What is Waterfall?

Set in the stunning Teesdale countryside, Waterfall is a remarkable visual art installation in which the characteristic whitewashed buildings of the Raby Estate and the waterfalls of the River Tees combine to create a unique and striking artwork.

When is it?

If you missed it last weekend, head to Teesdale on Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd October from 5pm - 9pm - and don't forget your camera!

Which waterfalls can I see?

High definition footage Cauldron Snout, High Force and Low Force will be projected onto all four sides of three whitewashed barns, effectively wrapping them in mesmerising slow motion pulses of water and cascading down the hillside to the east of Bowlees Visitor Centre.

Who's behind it?

Waterfall is the work of acclaimed North East artist Steve Messam who last year produced PaperBridge - a weight-bearing paper bridge which was strong enough to hold a car. you can find out more about Steve by following him on Twitter.

What should I wear?

We'd advise that you wear warm (and waterproof) clothing and wellies/strong shoes - and take a torch too. The barns are accessed by public footpaths across rough/muddy ground and involves some gradients. The furthest barn is 1 km from the Centre (the nearest one is about 200m). Bringing a dog is not advised.

How much does it cost?

Good news - it's FREE!

What about parking?

Parking will be available at Bowlees Visitor Centre (there will be a small voluntary charge that will be used to help keep the centre running).

Alternatively, a free park and ride minibus service will run from Middleton-in-Teesdale to Bowlees Visitor Centre. The bus will run from the centre of Middleton-in-Teesdale at 4.45pm, 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm with return journeys from Bowlees at 6.00pm, 7.00pm, 8.00pm, 8.30pm and 9.00pm
