Durham has achieved a top 6 place in a poll to find out the nation’s best-loved small cities and towns. Research carried out by You Gov for travel publisher Rough Guide, asked Britons to name their favourite small city or town and Durham proudly came 6th, ahead of Blackpool, Stratford upon Avon and Cambridge. Topping the list was nearby York.
This accolade comes after Conde Naste Traveller – named Durham as one of the top 15 cities in the UK last year. Durham was also named in Guardian Travel Awards as the UK’s 3rd favourite city (Top 2 were York and Edinburgh) and Cool Places Travel Guides have included Durham City in their stylish new travel guide series specifically created for the iPhone and iPad.
