Visit one of Durham City's hidden green spaces such as the themed gardens of Crook Hall and Durham University Botanic Garden, whilst Durham County is home to many glorious gardens including the stunning grounds of Raby Castle.

Waterfalls
If you can’t beat the rain, then make the most of it by visiting one of Durham's spectacular waterfalls - never better than just after heavy rain. Enjoy the River Tees in all its turbulent glory at High Force waterfall or see a veil of water at Gibson’s Cave near Bowlees Visitor Centre. Once seen, the more you will want it to rain!

Retail therapy will chase away those rainy day blues. Head to Durham City for the Prince Bishops Place indoor shopping centre. Bargain hunters should head to Dalton Park - the biggest outlet shopping centre in the region. Great local food and value for money can be enjoyed at all the local Farmers Markets.
