Gala DurhamTed x Durham

Gala Durham provides a culture-hub in the heart of Durham City. As well as a packed programme of shows and cinema, the venue also hosts unique events throughout the year. TEDxDurham takes place on 2 November. After 12 years, the event returns from Durham, North Carolina, to the UK. As part of the global TEDx programme, it features independently organised events inspired by TED Talks. TEDxDurham will present 10 talks from thought leaders including Sir Vince Cable and Jill Scott, as the events helps to showcase 'ideas worth spreading' to spark curiosity, challenge perspectives, and inspire the regional community.

Kynren - Pyromusical

The incredible 8,000 seat outdoor amphitheatre at Kynren provides the perfect setting for the North East’s biggest pyromusical. On 1 November this 25-minute fireworks display, produced by the renowned Kynren pyrotechnics team, promises a magical, multi-sensory experience. It's a must-see event for families and friends, featuring spectacular fireworks set to an epic soundtrack.

Lumiere Durham

This November, Durham City will become the venue as it is illuminated with stunning light artworks by international and UK artists. Experience brand-new commissions, premieres, and community collaborations, plus don't miss the special County spotlight on Shildon. Lumiere runs from 13 to 15 November, 5pm - 10pm.

The Witham -Neil Delamere 'Achilles Neil'

The Witham is at the heart of cultural and community life in Barnard Castle and the Durham Dales, featuring everything from theatre and music, to art and dance. And on 5 November, the venue will host a comedy performance celebrating the common flaws that make us human. Neil has featured regularly on TV and radio with credits on Live At The Apollo, The News Quiz, The Unbelievable Truth, Fighting Talk, Dancing With The Stars, and Countdown.

Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens - All Hallows’ Eve: Illuminated Trail

The stunning setting of Ushaw’s breathtaking buildings and glorious grounds are the perfect setting for a packed annual programme of events. And this spooky season, Ushaw's historic gardens become a haunting illuminated trail. Experience playful frights and surprises from 30 October to 1 November, with witches, glowing pumpkins, shimmering gravestones, and eerie figures as every turn reveals magical or monstrous sights.

Raby Castle Park and Gardens - The Plotters’ Forest Enchanted Christmas Trail 

As well as being an amazing adventure playground, The Plotters’ Forest is transformed in winter to provide festive fun at its Enchanted Christmas Trail.Experience the magic of Christmas at this unique venue from 15 November to 4 January. Follow the trail to discover twinkling lights, joyful music, and enchanting woodland , a memorable festive family outing.

Lord Crewe Arms -Stargazing:  North Pennines Stargazing Festival

Venues across the North Pennines play their part in the annual Stargazing Festival. At the Lord Crewe Arms, on the banks of the Derwent River, on 24 October from 7pm to 10pm listen to Andy Gray, the hotel's resident stargazing expert, who will discuss all things stargazing including the latest ideas on the possibilities of extraterrestrial life.

Durham Cricket - Festival of Fireworks 

The Banks Homes Riverside ground doesn’t just play host to top class cricket, as it also delivers an exciting programme of events across the year. The Festival of Fireworks returns to the Chester-le-Street venue on 1 November. Not just a fireworks display, the event is an entire evening of excitement, where you'll find a thrilling funfair, a buzzing food village, and live performers.
