Mother's Day is getting closer and we know just the perfect way to treat your Mum/Mam.

You might not be able to take her out for a cream tea at her favourite café, restaurant or hotel this year, but you’ll find plenty of businesses across the county offering Afternoon Tea deliveries or collections for that perfect lockdown Mother’s day treat.

Baked by Beamish 

Is your mum missing Beamish? You can treat her this Mother’s Day to a taste from the past with Beamish, The Living Museum of the North’s – Baked by Beamish Home Deliveries! 

This scrumptious Mother’s Day Sweet Treat Box selection includes mouth-watering goodies direct from Herron’s Bakery including chocolate chip brownies, scones with jam and clotted cream, crumbly Beamish gingerbread squares, and mini Victoria sponge cakes.

Beamish Museum’s Mother’s Day Sweet Treat Box is available for delivery on the 13 and 14 March 2021 and will be delivered straight to your door by a Beamish member of staff in full period costume. 

Broom House Farm

Known locally for its delicious food and drink featuring tempting homegrown produce, Broom House Farm Coffee Shop have tempting afternoon teas for two available to take home. All you’ll need to do is pop the kettle on!!

These tasty takeaway boxes are available to order online, and available for collection every Friday and Saturday. 

Coghlans at Barningham

A real hidden foodie gem found in the Durham Dales, Coghlans at Barningham is home to an artisan bakehouse, quaint tearoom and deli, jam-packed with the very best local produce. 

We may not be able to visit in person, but you and mum can enjoy their famous Afternoon Tea at home, available for delivery on Mothering Sunday. 

Their delectable Mother's Day Afternoon Tea includes finger sandwiches made from freshly baked artisan bread, quiche tartlets, buttermilk scones, macaroons, speciality teas and champagne. 

Fifteas Vintage Tea Room

Treat your mum to a traditional vintage-style Afternoon Tea from the unique family owned 1950's inspired tearoom in the heart of Bishop Auckland. You can even add a personal message for free and this tempting treat is also available to order gluten free and vegan. Delivery is available to Bishop Auckland and surrounding areas. 

Headlam Hall 

You can treat your mum to a delightful Afternoon Tea or luscious three course lunch/dinner, freshly prepared by Headlam Hall Hotel’s Head Chef.

Afternoon starts at £13 per person and included dainty finger sandwiches, savoury scone, mini pork pie and raspberry & white chocolate torte. And the tempting three course meal is only £22 per person, with plenty on the menu to choose from. 

Both are available to pre-order until Wednesday 10 March and will be available to collect from Headlam Hall on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 March 2021.

Lumley Castle 

Say thank you and spoil mum this year with Lumley Castle Hotel’s Grand Afternoon Take Away. By far their most popular, this package includes freshly cut assorted finger sandwiches, fruit scones, scrumptious cake selection from the Lumley bakery, and a choice of teas and coffees. 

Simply place your order online and then come pick it up from the castle at a time that suits you. £13.95 per person and last orders will be Thursday 11 March. 

Seaham Hall

The Cellar Door

The Cellar Door restaurant in historic Durham City is passionate about using the freshest and finest ingredients, and their heavenly Afternoon Tea contains mouth-watering savoury and dessert options which you can choose yourself. From steak and ale pie and classic egg mayonnaise sandwiches, to red velvet cupcakes and lemon meringue pie you’ll be spoilt for choice. 

The Cellar Door’s Afternoon Tea is available for local delivery throughout the month, view the menu online and order by calling 0191 383 1856. 

South Causey Inn 

South Causey Inn is well-known locally for its decadent Afternoon Teas, and even though you can’t take mum in person this year, you can get your favourite treats from the South Causey Inn delivered direct to her door.  

Takeout Afternoon Tea is available for collection and delivery and should be pre-ordered online by 3 pm the day before. Available Saturday 13 from 12 - 2 pm and Sunday 14 10.30 – 11.30am. 

As well as Afternoon Tea, you could also treat mum to a celebration box or special Mother’s Day weekend menu featuring delish wine, dine and cocktail box and Mother’s Day Sunday Roast.
