Dates announced and tickets on sale for epic night show...

Kynren - An Epic Tale of England, the spectacular show that wowed more than 100,000 visitors this year, will be back in 2017 to light up Bishop Auckland once again next summer.

Dates for next year's performances were announced today, with 17 action-packed shows taking place from 1 July - 16 September next year.

What is Kynren?

Produced by Eleven Arches, Kynren is a spectacular open-air live action night show, played out on a 7.5 acre stage against the magnificent backdrop of Auckland Castle in Bishop Auckland, a historic market town 12 miles south west of Durham City.

The show takes its name from the Anglo-Saxon word for generation, and will take audiences of 8,000 at a time on an epic journey through 2,000 years of British history, myth and legend.

There will be a cast and crew that includes 1,500 local volunteers, performance horses, sheep, goats, cattle, geese and ducks, plus life-size replicas of Norman longboats, steam, trains, wagons and carriages.

Delivered under the creative leadership of Steve Boyd (choreographer of Olympic and Commonwealth Games ceremonies), and produced in collaboration with the team behind the live historical extravaganzas at French theme park Puy du Fou, the 2017 shows promise to be even bigger, better and brighter than before.
