About

A warm County Durham welcome, you have made the first steps in finding out what County Durham has to offer – both on the course and off it. The County Durham Golf Trail had it’s inaugural year in 2018 and we’re now looking ahead to our third year in 2020. Our trail tournament week in 2020 commences at South Moor GC on Sunday July 5th and closes at Blackwell Grange GC – a new course on the rota – just outside of Darlington on Wednesday July 8th. We’re confident that this new addition will enhance our tournament and visitors to the County will be impressed with the variety of holes that Blackwell Grange possesses.

From the North of the region there’s the Dr Alister MacKenzie designed moorland classic at South Moor, a former venue of the McGregor trophy which winds it’s way through heather and gorse. Next stop Beamish Park golf club, a beautiful Henry Cotton design that sits peacefully in the Beamish valley. Then on to Harry Colt’s masterpiece at Brancepeth Castle, a worthy fixture in the UK’s top 100 courses with it’s dramatic and memorable par 3s and only a ten minute drive from the centre of Durham City. Finally our tournament week concludes at Blackwell Grange GC . Blackwell Grange was always a good layout but has had huge improvements made after consultation with course designer Jonathan Gaunt and the results are very impressive. Blackwell Grange GC will host the final day of our tournament week and we think it will be a perfect way to bring down the curtain on our tournament in 2020 !

Our passport option continues to grow in popularity and is perfect for  golfers  wishing to play these courses but unable to play our tournament week. Redemption of the passport is available 52 weeks of the year and is simple to arrange – just contact David Bryan on the email address below and your trip will be arranged with consultation with your group and the clubs. There is no arrangement fee and the passport offers great value for money, contact countydurhamgolftrail@outlook.com for details.

This event is open to pairs of any combination, Gents, Ladies or mixed with daily prizes as well as a final order of merit trophy and is brought to you with the support of ‘VisitcountyDurham’. Together we hope to provide you with an unforgettable trip and for you to enjoy some great golf as well as everything the region has to offer. We have enlisted the support of several hotels who provide excellent accommodation and preferential rates for participating golfers.

Come and join the County Durham Golf Trail !
