The church sits quietly on a hill top amongst the trees overlooking the ruins of the Grade 1 Monastic Grange, near heather Moorland, the Derwent Gorge and Muggleswick Woods.
It also lies half way between Heavenfield and Durham Cathedral on the Northern Saints Trail.
Champing, which translates as camping in a church is offered at All Saints Church, Muggleswick. Those who stay need to bring a sleeping bag, but comfortable camp beds are provided, each complete with a throw, cushion and a hot water bottle.
The church includes a servery, with tea and coffee making facilities, crockery and a table and chairs. A microwave, toaster and fridge with a sink with hot and cold running water.
An accessible toilet with baby changing facilities is also available.
