North Pennines NatureFest

North Pennines NatureFest is packed with events that celebrate nature, heritage and the landscape in the North Pennines National Landscape and UNESCO Global Geopark. The festival is running between Saturday 23 May and Sunday 7 June. The festival is all about people discovering, enjoying, and finding out about nature in the North Pennines, with events across the week celebrating the outstanding nature, wildlife, plants and rocks found in the area.

Durham Pride

Get ready for a day filled with music, dancing, and community spirit at Durham Pride on 30 May. This ticketed event is all about embracing who you are and spreading positivity. Whether you're part of the LGBT+ community or an ally, everyone is welcome.

Festival of Transport at Beamish Museum

Hop aboard one of Beamish’s amazing visiting buses and enjoy some impressive static displays, as the Festival of Transport returns to Beamish. The festival kicks off with the popular ‘Fares Please!’ bus event running from 23 to 25 of May, and celebrations will continue throughout the week, with an incredible display of road and road steam vehicles on the move across the museum for our Power from the Past - 29 to 31 May.  

Consett Cycling Festival

The Consett Cycle Festival 2026 returns on Sunday 7 June to Consett Town Centre. After the success of the previous cycling festivals held in 2019 and 2025, the event promises to offer a day filled with live music, entertainment, children’s activities, rides, and of course, the exciting British Cycling men’s and women’s races!


The 193rd Durham Regatta

Durham Regatta will once again offer thrilling races, live entertainment, and local food stalls, in the heart of Durham City from the 13 to 14 of June. Last year over 10,000 spectators and 1,400 competitors took part in this amazing family event set against the stunning backdrop of Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Three Inch Fools- King Arthur and the Holy Fail Open Air Theatre at Raby Castle

A magical evening awaits as the brilliant Three Inch Fools return with a riotous Arthurian adventure, set in Raby Castle’s atmospheric open air theatre on 26 June. Nestled in the East Garden amphitheatre, with sweeping views of the castle, this epic tale delivers daring quests, dashing knights and medieval mayhem. When Camelot is thrown into chaos, an unlikely hero named Arthur is launched into a legendary quest, so saddle up for an unforgettable night of live theatre.

Durham Miners' Gala 

The Durham Miners' Gala is the world's greatest celebration of community, international solidarity, and working-class culture. It is a unique and inspiring spectacle, with more than 200,000 people packing the streets of Durham City to enjoy the sights and sounds of The Big Meeting. You can experience stunning banners showcasing the region's history and enjoy the brass band music, creating a vibrant street theatre atmosphere on 11 July.

Party in the Park Durham Brass Festival 

Durham Brass Festival promises to be bigger and better than ever as it celebrates two decades of bringing one of the biggest celebrations of brass to the region. On Saturday 18 July Party in the Park returns to Wharton Park Amphitheatre, packed with spectacular performances and lively street bands.

Durham City Run Festival

Enjoy a summer evening running past Durham City's historic landmarks this July as Durham City Run Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. Take part in either the 5km, 10km or Families on Track races across the festival and earn a medal and even a goody bag! You can experience the excitement of the Durham City Run Festival from 16 to 18 July.

Derwent Fest 

Derwent Waterside Park will come to life with tunes, tributes and twilight skies from 14 to 15 August with the return of Derwent Fest. The festival takes place over two days and attendees are invited to make the most of the weekend by camping under the stars in a designated Dark Skies location and enjoy the tranquillity and relaxation that comes from staying in the countryside.
