The Rocky Horror Show at Sir Thomas Allen Assembly Rooms Theatre

'Let's do the time warp again!' DULOG presents cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show! Celebrating 50 years, it follows Brad and Janet into Dr. Frank-N-Furter's wild castle. Enjoy an unforgettable cast and an iconic rock'n'roll score filled with surprises, running from 19 to 21 June.

Sherlock Holmes the Last Act at Durham Fringe Festival

In 1916, Sherlock Holmes returns to Baker Street after two years of retirement to attend Dr. Watson's funeral and resolve his final case. This theatrical event features fourteen characters, all portrayed by Nigel Miles-Thomas in a remarkable performance. The play, written by Conan Doyle expert David Stuart Davies and directed by award-winning Gareth Armstrong, reveals a shocking secret from the great detective. Catch this captivating show at the Vane Tempest, Durham from 24 to 26 July.

Loot by Joe Orton at The City Theatre

Burying Mrs McLeavy should be dignified, but a stash of cash complicates things. Hal robs a bank and hides the money in his late mother's coffin. Fay, aiming to marry Mr McLeavy for his wealth, gets suspicious and demands a cut. Outrageous events unfold as police inspector Truscott accuses Fay of poisoning Mrs McLeavy, but the evidence disappears. Catch 'The Loot' by Joe Orton at The City Theatre from 29 June to 5 July.

Waiting for Godot by Samuel Becket at Durham Gala

Experience this groundbreaking play at Durham Gala from August 13 to 16. Watch Vladimir and Estragon, two tramps, pass time with arguments and games while waiting for Mr. Godot. They encounter Pozzo, Lucky, and a boy who says Mr. Godot will come tomorrow. The wait continues.

The Last Hurrah at Durham Fringe Festival

Ever wonder what happens behind the closed doors of an ordinary family? The Last Hurrah explores a week filled with secrets and tough choices for a family. A mother faces an unexpected pregnancy, a daughter juggles romance and school, and a father clashes with his best friend as a secret unfolds on their doorstep. See the Last Hurrah at Dunelm House from 23 to 26 July.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Raby Castle’s Open Air Theatre

 The brilliant Three Inch Fools are set to perform Shakespeare’s most iconic comedy, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in the atmospheric setting of Raby Castle’s open air theatre on 2 August.  Experience a lively retelling of Shakespeare's tale filled with mischief in a moonlit forest. The Fairy King and Queen feud, four lovers get tangled in romance, and a group of terrible actors prepare for a grand show. With the mischievous Puck leading the way, love's journey is anything but smooth.

Shakespeare in Love at Whorlton Village Green

Join The Castle Players for a heartwarming tale of love and theatre! Based on the Oscar winning film, Shakespeare in Love tells the story of young Will Shakespeare, a broke playwright facing writer's block. In debt to theatre owner Philip Henslowe, he reluctantly offers his new comedy, Romeo and Ethel the Pirate's Daughter. Don’t miss this captivating performance on 1 July at Whorlton Village Green.

Kynren An Epic Tale of England

Experience the UK's ultimate live-action show, Kynren. This must-see event takes you on a journey through 2,000 years of history, myth, and legend. And new for 2025, Kynren celebrates the 200th anniversary of Locomotion No.1, the first passenger steam train. A stunning full-scale replica will feature in the performance, bringing the story to life with performances every Saturday from 19 July to 13 September.

The HandleBards: Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing' at Wharton Park

The HandleBards are back at Wharton Park on 15 August! This four-member troupe travels by bike, bringing eco-friendly Shakespeare to life. Join them for an exciting bicycle-powered performance of 'Much Ado About Nothing.' Expect high energy, delightful chaos, and lots of laughs!

S&DR200 - STEAM, WHEELS n’ RAILS at Locomotion

Join the S&DR200 Community Players for 'STEAM, WHEELS n' RAILS,' a new period costume drama that explores the birth of the railways. This two-hour production features a large volunteer cast and crew from the local area. Performances will take place over three nights, from 21 to 23 September.
