Durham City's Traditional Christmas Festival

Where? Durham City

When? Friday 29 November - Sunday 1 December 

Experience a Christmas festival like no other, as Durham City is transformed into a winter wonderland, filled with fun festive entertainment and top shopping opportunities.

Explore the huge craft and gift marquee on Palace Green with other 180 stalls and in the cloisters of Durham Cathedral discover regional food and drink at the Producers Market featuring more than 30 local traders. Durham Market Hall will be open each day of the festival and a special festive market can be found in the city's market place.

Lumley Castle Christmas Markets 

Where? Lumley Castle Hotel, Chester-Le-Street 

When? Monday 2 and Thursday 5 December   

Shop til you drop at the annual Lumley Castle Christmas markets. Filled with local suppliers, delicious festive treats and unique gifts. We also recommend indulging in the castle's famous festive afternoon tea, served with mulled whilst enjoying the live carols in the Barons Hall. 

The South Causey Inn's Christmas Markets 

Where? The South Causey Inn, Stanley 

When? Tuesday 3 and Tuesday 10 December

The South Causey's weekly farmers market takes on a festive feel throughout December. Browse stalls from local artisans and traders, filled with treats and treasures that cannot be found on the high street. From fine foods and homewares, to health and beauty products, crafts and everything in-between.

Seaham Hall Spa Festive Fair

Where? Seaham Hall, Seaham 

When? Thursday 5 December 

Enjoy complimentary mulled wine and mince pies, a Santa photo booth and live music as you browse the wonderful stalls featuring well known brands such as Temple Spa, Ishga, Cheese & Chacuterie and many more. When? Saturday 7 December

A wonderful range of seasonal stalls with gifts from local producers, designers and creators. Enjoy acoustic musical entertainment and the Kitchen at the Hub will be serving warming mulled wine and festive treats. And don't forget your little ones can take part in the sELFie trail around the hub's grounds, plus you'll find plenty of games and activities to entertain the family whilst you shop.

Soak up the atmosphere at The Bowes Museum's feel good event of the season, with festive foods, crafts and music.
