The winner will be announced at Visit County Durham’s Summer Garden Party taking place at Crook Hall and Gardens on 13th July.

We’ve taken a look at what makes our finalists budding superstars to help make your descision a little easier (or harder perhaps!)

Caitlin PottsCaitlin, Durham Castle Museum and Tours

Home to a college of Durham University, a B&B and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site makes Durham Castle rather unique. By ensuring exceptional visitor experiences and transforming the tour operation, Caitlin’s enthusiasm, dedication and professionalism have transformed tours of the Castle. Caitlin assists the overall development, delivery and evaluation of tours, acting as an ambassador for all visitors to inspire and share her knowledge.

Dorothy CarlyonDorothy, Beamish Museum

In the living museum of Beamish, Dorothy is a team leader for the Town and Pit Life Village since 1999. With a team of over 50 staff, she leads by example with an infectious smile and boundless energy. Happiest when interacting with visitors, she shares a wealth of knowledge and always goes the extra mile making her an unsung hero of the award winning Beamish Museum.

Richard DarlingtonRichard, Hall Hill Farm

As a farm attraction, opportunities to see and touch animals at close quarters is helped by Richard. Not just a shepherd and farm tour guide, he looks after Hall Hill Farm’s social media channels and is a firm favourite with school visits. Inventor of ‘sheep racing’ and specially requested by teachers, his patient and encouraging nature is key to his success.

Durham has a strong heritage of crowning extra special winners, with two previous Durham Tourism Superstars going on to win the national prize. With the bar set so high again this year, whoever wins your vote is a strong candidate for the national prize.
