S&DR200 and Little Inventors are celebrating the 200th anniversary of the Stockton and Darlington Railway with the S&DR Invention Challenge, inviting Year 5–8 students from Stockton, Darlington, and Durham to reimagine the 4,000 miles of disused train tracks in the UK.

Five winning ideas will be transformed into professional designs, models, or prototypes by expert makers, showcasing the creativity of young minds.

S&DR200 FestivalThe 27 September 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of the opening of the Stockton and Darlington Railway (S&DR), which gave birth to the modern railway.
