About

A warm welcome – the County Durham Golf Trail commenced in late 2017 – events were successfully held in 2018, 2019 and again in July 2021,2022, 2023 and 2024. There were 60 people who entered the recent 2024 event.

We cater for all pairs formats – Gents, Ladies and Mixed. The trail is taking place again in 2025 – it will run from Mon June 30th to Thurs July 3rd.

The 4 courses will be played in the order of Beamish, South Moor, Blackwell Grange and finally Brancepeth Castle on the Mon/Tues/Wed and Thurs respectively.

N.B Do  not be put off by the booking process – ALL PAIR FORMATS CAN ENTER.

The booked tee times for day 1 will be adhered to as far as possible. The tees will be organised is such a way that gents pairs will play with other gents pairs, mixed will play with other mixed pairs etc.  Each pair will play with different pairs on subsequent days. Tee times will be fixed for days 1,2 &3 and issued at least 7 days before the event. The final day will see the leading pairs going out at the end of the field – 4BBB stableford scoring will be used throughout. The named pair will continue to play together as a team on each day.

First venue is Beamish Park golf club, a beautiful Henry Cotton design that sits peacefully in the Beamish valley.

Next will be the Dr Alister MacKenzie designed moorland classic at South Moor, a former venue of the McGregor trophy which winds it’s way through heather and gorse.

Blackwell Grange hosts on day 3 – Blackwell Grange has benefitted from consultation with course designer Jonathan Gaunt. The results are very impressive and for those yet to play this course, we’re sure it won’t disappoint.

Our final days play will take place at the Harry Colt’s masterpiece at Brancepeth Castle, a worthy fixture in the UK’s top 100 courses with it’s dramatic and memorable par 3s. You are only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Durham City.

Our passport option is perfect for  golfers  wishing to play these courses but unable to play our tournament week. Redemption of the passport is available 52 weeks of the year and is simple to arrange. Contact John Davidson on the email address below and your trip will be arranged in consultation with your group and the clubs. There is no arrangement fee and the passport offers great value for money.

The main event is open to pairs of any combination, Gents, Ladies or mixed with daily prizes as well as a final order of merit trophy. Together we hope to provide you with an unforgettable trip and for you to enjoy some great golf as well as everything the region has to offer. We have enlisted the support of some hotels who provide excellent accommodation.
