The museum is one of four venues in the UK- and the only one in the north of England - to stage the Queen Victoria in Paris, an exhibition of watercolours commissioned by Queen Victoria as a souvenir of her momentous 10- day state visit to Paris in August 1855, generously loaned by Her Majesty The Queen from the royal collection. The paintings provide both fascinating and a lasting legacy of the opulence, pomp and pageantry surrounding the trip.
