Video of the Durham coast showing 100 years of change from it's industrial past to a coastline now worthy of heritage coast status.
Our Durham coastline is unique, it’s transformation from industrial landscape is now long gone – the coal beneath the waves now being replaced by returning sea life. For walkers, the England Coast Path offers a stunning coastal walk giving exhilarating views of our unique magnesian limestone cliffs, skylarks, the Durham Argus butterfly, and orchids in the summer months. As well as the England Coast Path, circular walks near our coastal villages are available online at www.durhamheritagecoast.org.
