About
This summer see our home planet in a way you've never seen it before, as Luke Jerram’s giant illuminated Earth hangs in the cathedral.
From Monday 10 July to Sunday 10 September, this seven-metre diameter Earth installation will be floating in three-dimensions in the iconic cathedral setting. Following Museum of the Moon, Luke Jerram's famous touring artwork, Gaia, gives us the opportunity to see our home from a new angle and reflect on the importance of caring for nature.
The inflated globe features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the Earth’s surface and provides the opportunity to see Earth as it’s seen from space, floating in three-dimensions. A specially made surround sound composition by BAFTA award winning Composer Dan Jones is played alongside the sculpture giving visitors an immersive experience.
A programme of events will be announced over the coming months so look out for out-of-this-world activities including late night openings, tours with a twist and family activities.
