From high peaks and valleys to meandering rivers and powerful seas – see how animals have adapted to live and thrive in the varied environments of the British Isles. Visitors will have the opportunity to see some of Britain’s most elusive animals including the red fox, red squirrel, barn owl and great crested newt up close and personal in this family friendly exhibition.
The gallery will be packed with games and activities, including a free gallery trail to complete, and also includes some treasures from the Palace Green Library Special Collections including 19th Century Boys Own Annuals and hand painted illustrations of British birds by ornithologist John Selby.
There will also be the chance to learn about the work of Durham Wildlife Trust, including taking part in their animal spotting programme Mammal Web, developed in collaboration with Durham University.
