Sir Roger Bannister became the first man to break the 4 minute mile, 65 years ago in Oxford. The British public voted it as the greatest sporting achievement of the 20th century. Sir Roger sadly died last year, but this remarkable man was as famous in the world of neuro-science as he was to millions of sports fans around the globe.
We are delighted and honoured that Sir Rogers’s family will be attending this unique evening of celebration and recognition.
The event will begin with a special viewing of the acclaimed documentary Everest on the Track in which Sir Roger and others describe the events leading up to, and including those incredible moments on the track at Iffley Road.
The Bannister family will then be joined by British record holder for the mile, Steve Cram, and Paula Radcliffe, to discuss with the audience Sir Rogers’s achievements on and off the track and the impact of his superb performance.
