Conflict and Contemporary Digital Art in the Middle East and North Africa

This exhibition will focus on of a significant collection of contemporary digital-born and digitally manipulated prints created by emerging artists, many of them refugees or working in conflict zones, from the Middle East and North Africa. A touring exhibition and engagement programme (displayed first in Durham and then touring to UK venues through 2023/24) – supported by online content – will explore the themes of conflict, protest, identity and orientalism while also delving into the long traditions of pop art and graphic design in the region. The exhibition will incorporate multiple voices and specifically address the issues of decolonisation and Orientalist stereotyping.
