Don’t forget! Mother’s Day is on Sunday, 31st March, and what better way to show your mum you care than by bringing her to Beamish?
We will be telling the story of Mothering Sunday around the museum, did you know that the celebration of motherhood is recorded from mid 17th century? Discover the origins of the day and get involved with lots of family activities.
Create a paper flower in The Pit Village school, a lovely gift for your mum! Victoria sponge will be made in No. 3 Francis Street in Pit Village, while apple tart will be baking in Miss Smith’s house in The Town. Sing along with the Beamish Volunteer Choir performing in The Pit Village chapel from 1.30pm.
Why not decorate a pot and plant a Georgian bulb to take home with you in the gardens of Pockerley Old Hall, or make a Mothering Sunday card at our 1940s Farm?
Make your mum feel special this Mother’s Day at Beamish, with a whole museum dedicated to her!
